About Us CTA
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
There are two primary goals in Christian tutoring, and it is the role of the tutor to guide students toward an awareness of both. The tutor’s first responsibility is to show Christ’s preeminence in all aspects of the curriculum (Colossians 1:18). In Christ are “hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3), therefore it is impossible to gain a complete understanding of a subject without first recognizing Christ’s centrality and supremacy in its content.
The second objective of Christian tutoring is discipleship (Luke 6:40). Of course, gaining mastery of a subject is highly important, and a skilled tutor will lead students toward academic success. But from a Christian perspective, educational progress is merely a means to a much greater end. Students thrive when they become aware of the biblical concept of the “fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 9:10). Therefore, it is essential for tutors to instill in students a Christ-centered worldview in which God is honored in their words, actions, and motives.
The mission of Christian Tutors of America (CTA) is to worship Jesus Christ through academic excellence (Colossians 3:23-24) and through Christian discipleship (Proverbs 3:1-12). CTA’s objective is to guide students toward Christian character development, which will not only challenge them to excel in their studies, but will also spur them to fulfill their calling in life. Furthermore, CTA is committed to providing parents with support and biblical resources. CTA seeks to accomplish its mission by heeding to the Holy Spirit’s direction and by obeying the truth of God’s Word.
